The Medicare Eligibility states that a person is eligible to get the benefits of the Medicare insurance if he is a resident of the United States of America and have resided there for at least 5 years on a continuous basis. The Medicare is the insurance program provided as a health insurance agenda to the people. It was initiated by the US government which was at first signed on 30 July in the year 1965.

Normally, a person gets the Medicare Eligibility if he is above the age of 65 years or under 65. He also gets the Medicare Eligibility if he has stayed in the same country for a continuous spell of 5 years and is a legal member of that country. The Medicare Eligibility is provided to any person who becomes disabled and meets the other criteria and also receives either Railroad Retirement Board benefits or the social security benefits for a minimum period of 2 years. The individuals may also get the Medicare Eligibility and become eligible to get the Medicare benefits if he is on a continuous dialysis for the unending kidney failure or is in need of a kidney transfer. The beneficiaries who get the Medicare Eligibility are dual-eligible. They become eligible for the both Medicaid and Medicare.

In few states, the Medicaid pays the beneficiaries for the people who get the income below certain level and also helps them in providing drugs and other Medicare benefits. In the year 2007, the Medicare provided few health care benefits to around 43 million people in America who attained the Medicare Eligibility.
