Child protective services is a program that was initiated by the government in many states in the United States in order to look after the welfare and safety of children. This program provides dedicated services that look to protect children against abuse, ignorance and addiction and to provide rehabilitation to children, parents or the other people involved.
Child protective services provide service for 24x7 hours a week for intake, screening and assessed reports of child neglect and abuse. It was established after the government passed the Child Protective Service Act in 1973. Child protective services workers inspect suitable referrals to investigate the protection and safety needs of children and whenever it is necessary, they intervene in order to provide services designed for the well being of the children. If the child protective services find that it is necessary to be involved with the families for more than 90 days, than the worker has to obtain either a voluntary service agreement with the family or a court order. Child protective services has to provide either out-of-home care for the child during evaluation or reunification process or has to provide in home protection services for the child to remain with the family. The Child Protective Service has been criticized by many people who believe that that the government is forcibly removing children from their families and homes in order to bring out dehumanization.
Throughout the world, children are being neglected and abused and are dying. There was always a need for government to step up and do something for the children who are the future of any state. Though the world has still a lot to learn about the welfare of children, the Child Protective Service is just the right step in this direction.
